HSC Exams: Return to full syllabus

Bangladesh’s education authorities have confirmed that the upcoming HSC, Alim, and equivalent examinations of 2026 will pivot back to a full-syllabus format, reinstating complete exam durations and full marks for all subjects. Exams are slated for May–June 2026.

According to the NCTB, the decision follows mounting clarity regarding the easing of pandemic-related hindrances. The acting chairman of NCTB noted that “since there is no extraordinary situation now, the exams will return to the regular format.”

This refreshed approach specifically affects students who began Class XI in the 2024–25 academic year—they will be the cohort undertaking the full-syllabus HSC and equivalent exams in 2026.

To ensure consistency in implementation, NCTB has instructed the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee to relay this update to all education boards and institutions across the country.

For context, the exam pattern had previously shifted to a shortened syllabus since 2021 due to ongoing pandemic challenges. The return to the full curriculum marks a notable milestone toward normalizing academic assessments.
